ENERGY

One of the characteristics of the electrical energy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina is an abundance of resources for production of energy, which puts Bosnia and Herzegovina on the map as an energy exporter. However, current plants are outdated, and their capacities will soon stop being able to satisfy the needs of even the domestic market. Therefore, significant investment into this sector will be required. In these circumstances, we positioned ourselves as leaders in the market and are engaged on both the side of the employer and the contractors in the course of construction of the wide array of energy plants, starting from thermo power plant Blok 7 Tuzla (which is the largest energy facility ever built in Bosnia and Herzegovina), hydro power plants, solar and wind power plants, as well as numerous mini hydro power plants. Our engagement in this sector includes advising on all issues related to energy plants, including finding and agreeing on financing, construction of plants, procurement of equipment, regulating the relationship between the contractor and the investors, solving all of the administrative issues, such as obtaining construction, energy and environmental licenses, and finally representation in the course of administrative and court proceedings between the participants, or the regulator. With such wide engagement, our advice often includes issues related to concessions and public-private partnership, as well as environmental protection in relation to local and EU regulations, and state aid issues. The fact that USAID selected our office to provide all services for set up of Coordinated Auction Office in South East Europe in Montenegro for trading of transmission capacities for transfer of electrical energy shows our competencies and experience in this domain.
